Mangalavanam is bird sanctuary, a green belt located in the heart of Eranakulam city, adjoining the backwaters and the sea. It is the home of many exotic and rare varieties of migratory and resident birds.

Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kaloor, is the fourth largest stadium in India and the largest in Kerala with a seating capacity of 60,000 in multiple tiers. The ground is lit by a set of unique convex pylon floodlights that arch over the ground. The stadium is home to both the Kerala Ranji cricket team as well as FC Kochi football team.

Willingdon Island is named after Lord Willingdon, a British viceroy to India; this man-made island is surrounded by backwaters. The island houses city's best hotels, customs and trading centres and is the headquarters of the Sourthern Naval Command.


The Cochin Club, formerly known as the English Club, stretches from the Fort Cochin Commandant's house to the ancient Governor's residence. The club is housed in a beautifully landscaped park and is known for its artistic architecture- high roofs and arch styled windows. It has a huge library and a collection of trophies. In the early 19th century, when the club was established by the British, admission was restricted only to them and men. Today its rules are more liberal and the membership of 250 includes women as well.

Marine Drive is a walkway that lines the coast and backwaters.  The bustling backwaters, dotted with fishing boats, speedboats, ships, tankers and passenger boats, are worth seeing.

Waterfalls:
The Cheeyappara and Valara Waterfalls are located between Neriamangalam and Adimali on the Kochi-Madurai highway. The Cheeyappara Falls cascades down in seven steps.

Thommankuthu Waterfalls
Located 20 kms from Thodupuzha, Thommankuthu is a small, beautiful and wild waterfall. Thommankuthu attracts thousands of tourists every year. The wild beauty of the scenic waterfall will steal the heart of any visitor.
