Museums:-

Maritime Museum: In India’s defense, Indian Navy plays a crucial role by safeguarding territorial waters of the nation. Hence, it is important for civilians to understand the value of existence of such a force. The Maritime Museum, located at INS Dronacharya in Kochi throws light on the birth, history, evolution and milestones of the Indian Navy.

Museum of Kerala History: The museum has on display spectacular audio-visual exhibits depicting the history and culture of Kerala along with many life size statues of famous personalities and several paintings.

Parikshith Thampuram Museum: The traditional Kerala style building formerly called the Durbar Hall, houses 19th century oil paintings, a collection of old coins, sculptures and Mughal paintings. The building has now been taken over by the Kerala Lalitha Kala Academy and now houses the Gallery of Contemporary Art. All the exhibits of the museum have been moved to the Hill Palace museum. The museum remains open from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm and 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm. all weekdays except Mondays.

Beaches:-

Fort Kochi beach: As you stroll along the beach, particularly at sunset with the Chinese fishing nets and sailing ships in the backdrop, it proves to be an unforgettable experience. Many European style bungalows make up the shoreline. The coastal stretch has loads of small stalls, which make instant, mouth-watering traditional cuisines using freshly caught fish.

Cherai Beach is an ideal beach for swimming, located on the northern-end of Vypin island, one of the small island just off the mainland. Dolphins are occasionally seen here. A typical Kerala village with paddy fields and coconut groves nearby is an added attraction of this beach. Vypin can be reached by land or by boat.
